WSM 208 — The Last DW-S Build

The fibreglass body was prepared in 1963 but lay dormant as other WSMs were built to customer demand by designer and racer Douglas Wilson-Spratt.

Douglas applied 208’s bodywork in his Peel workshop in 1998, but then restoration of his aircraft took precedence. Colmworth Classic Cars in Bedfordshire completed the build to race specification in 2008.

In May 2009 the 88-year-old designer was at Croft in Yorkshire where the Chiron blue car registered DWS 97 made its race debut in the Equipe GTS series alongside WSM 210.

The car has class wins at Brands Hatch, Silverstone, Zandvoort and Le Mans, including fastest laps. Sold at Bonhams at the Goodwood Members Meeting in April 2023. Dean Stanton is the new custodian, joining a stable including a Sebring Sprite evocation.
